This story, from the BBC - coming as it does after a week of similar stories - has made my blood boil. I am a Socialist and proud of it. We are supposed to have a Government with a conscience, a left wing Government of principle... well... that is BOLLOCKS... we have a Government that is as morally bankrupt as any Conservative Government that has ever been in power.
I have written to my MP - Frank Dobson - to this effect:
"Sir, I require you to raise a question in the House of Commons, as a matter of urgency, regarding the content of this news story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7933929.stm with particular reference to this statement from Mr Clive Stafford-Smith:"The government must take this international criticism to heart and, instead of merely repeating platitudes about being opposed to torture, must show that when a British agent discovers some victim in some foreign torture chamber, Britain will take action to stop the abuse."
I am sick to death of hearing this "platitude", this feeble excuse.
You are my MP, you should be ashamed to be a member of a Government which appears to be a party to torture.
I shall post this message on my blog and report, also on my blog, the substance - if any - of your response.

Gordon Bennett but this stuff makes me mad!
