Friday feelin' fine...

The big painting is now, possibly, in the state it's meant to be.... where another brush stroke may be one too many....

I do not know yet.... whether I dare make the one more mark that I know I ought but which you, dear reader, will never notice....

That, though, is not the point.... I shall know that the mark ought to have been made... and may not rest, easily, until it has been...

Ah well... the studying and the considering and the stressing will keep me occupied...

... and you may not notice the difference between the image below and the one that was posted previously...

... and, in a 30 minute burst of inspiration and from a desire to say something simple... this one just had to be made... to express my love for the woman who has transformed my life...

Patience dear reader, patience...

The large painting so recently featured here is still drying before can I apply the final highlights. I have, however, been working on these others - some of which haven't been seen for some time, while they dried thoroughly - with dark glazes, in order to emphasis certain areas, and at least two of them are now in the state I have been hoping to reach with them...

This is one of the two... several months in the drying and now nothing more is to be done...

This troubled me for some time... and there may yet be more to do...

... whereas this may simply require one more thin glaze...

Finally.... this is now most definitely in the state I wanted it to reach...

... it is, as it says, dedicated to my beloved...

Still alive....

Yes I know.... not been posting updates.... well.... that doesn't mean I haven't been working... I have... and I do have a good reason for not posting...

... the work has taken quite a while to bring to a state where I could photograph it.... tonal differences needing working out... corrections to certain areas... all sorts of technical bits & pieces...

... but now I can post it...

... and, as usual, still lots to do so not sure when next update will be posted...

... now I shall relax for a little while listening to...

What kind o' idiot...

... starts werk - after 'avin' decided not t' do owt, werk-wise at any rate, over t' weekend - at 9 o'clock on a Sundy evnin'? ... well I know o' one but I ain't sayin' no names!..

T' reason for startin' at all were an attack o' guilt - th' atheist work ethic if ya like - at 'avin' done nowt on Sat'day... an' yer know what?... ah's chuffed wi' what's come out o' t' session... ah've unny bin werkin' on th' 'ands what ah redefined t' other day, like... but they's gettin' summat close t' what ah reckons they oughta be like in t' long run.

Angry update

Apropos of this posting... just to let you know that, one month on and I am still awaiting a reply from Mr Dobson although I am not surprised... according to the Write To Them site... his record as regards responding to his constituents is rather poor, viz: "Replied within 2 or 3 weeks to a low number of messages sent via WriteToThem.com during 2007, according to constituents."

Simple question... what hose he do for his money?

Last couple of days spent with a size 0 sable brush re-defining the hands that were sketchy... [earlier positioning still visible in places.] Not sure yet how this area will develop... particularly when heavier skin tones are applied... but that's all for now... it really has to dry before I can push further with the whole painting...

Yo-yo time...

One day you're up... the next you're down... one day things work... the next they don't... sometimes things come along to provide inspiration... then the inspiration's flown away like a lost balloon or a leaf on the wind... then you try & claw something back... you step back & look... long & hard... & make decisions... sometimes they're the correct decisions... sometimes they're not... how do we know unless we take the plunge?... maybe I'm back... maybe I'm not...

... it's taken Diana Jones, Gillian Welch and Iris DeMent to get me down to the bottom of the well and back out again in a rickety bucket held by a frayed rope... just hope it was work the journey and that the air up here is fresh & clean...
